Bio
- Lars Toler (they/he) is a trans, queer, and disabled multi-hyphenate artist and theatre maker based in the LA and OC areas. In everything he does, he leads with creativity, compassion, and chaos.
- Performance credits include Jane Doe in Ride the Cyclone, Riff Raff in The Rocky Horror Show, and Thaisa/Leonine/Boult in Pericles.
- As a playwright, they have written several shows including Smitten and Magnets, both produced at California State University, Long Beach. Smitten went on to be produced a second time as part of the 2026 Joy Who Lived festival. Lars is producing Smitten again this Halloween season, Oct. 29-31, at The Eastwood in East Hollywood. - Directing credits include their own short play, the psychological horror titled Smitten, produced in April 2026 as part of the Joy Who Lived all trans and gender nonconforming theatre festival. They also Assistant Directed Coeurage Ensemble’s 2025 production of Pericles, as part of the city of West Hollywood’s Shakespeare in the Park series.
- They are a resident member of Coeurage Ensemble as well as a member of the LGBTQ+ Musical Theatre Network, Ring of Keys. They often perform in LGBTQIA+ events throughout Southern California, including performing as 'Experiment Lazarus' in drag at venues like Akbar.
- In 2026, Lars won the StageSceneLA Scenies 'Breakout Lead Performance in a Musical' Award for his portrayal of Lewis in The Unauthorized 'Meet the Robinsons' Musical Parody at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
- Lars is an advocate at heart, and through his art, aims to be as vocal and forward as possible about trans rights, disability rights, mental health advocacy, and the rights of all. No one is free when others are oppressed.
